We are often asked if you can just settle down Jurassic espresso machine rather than using a water filter. And the short answer is Yes.
The slightly longer answer is that we always recommend that you use a Jura Claris water filter in your Jura machine, as the use of a water filter protects the machine and extends its service life. The water filter ensures that the machine is continuously kept lime-free, as opposed to using it Jurassic decalcification tablets, where the lime slowly accumulates, reduce the heat (up to 8%) until the machine has to be descaled. This also means that the machine needs more energy to heat up. If you do not use a water filter, it can also degrade the quality of the water, which can affect the taste of the coffee.
The descaling process takes considerably more time, as opposed to changing the water filter, which can be done in 1-2 minutes. the aThe calcification process takes approx. 45 min. and you will be prompted to start the automatic descaling program after approx. 50 liters of water through the machine.
Whether you choose to use one water filter or descaling your machine, it is important that the water hardness is adjusted on the machine. If you have any doubts about the hardness of the water in your area, you can get it informed by visiting your local waterworks website.
If you use a water filter we recommend that you regularly descale your Jura machine - eg. every 3 or 6 months to be on the safe side.
